Ron Capps Takes First Car Victory at NHRA Sears Craftsman Nationals

San Diego, CA Funny Car pilot, Ron Capps took his first career overall win at Madison, IL Gateway Raceway in the Sears Craftsman Nationals Sunday.

Capps ran a 5.165 sec pass at 268.81 mph. He defeated Cruz Pedregon who ran 5.655 and 210.82 mph. Capps won a Top Fuel event in Seattle in 1995 and then switched to Funny Car.

Top Fuel at Madison went to Joe Amato, Old Forge, Pa at 4.739, 306.43 mph over Gary Scelzi, 301.30.

Pro Stock saw Warren Johnson beat out points leader Jim Yates at 196.16 to 195.90mph.
