Pepsi 400 -- Lap 35 Update

5 July 1997

DAYTONA BEACH, FL --

Lap 14: Andretti, RWallace, MWaltrip, JGordon, Jarrett, Skinner, Earnhardt,
Spencer, Schrader, Martin

Lap 15: MWaltrip gets out of line and he'll go backwards at JGordon,
Jarrett and Skinner all get by for position.

Lap 18: WBurton and Schrader make contact bouncing the Skoal Bandit off the
outside wall. Somehow Schrader gathers it back up and there's no further
damage.

Lap 19: Andretti, RWallace, JGordon, Jarrett, Spencer

Meanwhile Elliott has moved up to 7th.

MWaltrip goes *way* high on the track and nearly brushes the wall. He's
back in 9th.

Lap 20: The top five are Andretti, RWallace, JGordon, Spencer and Jarrett
and they're running nose-to-tail.

The rest of the top 10: Elliott, Martin, Earnhardt, Schrader, MWaltrip

Lap 24: JGordon takes a peek to the inside of RWallace and when he does
Spencer takes the position towing Jarrett along with him.

JGordon continues to lose positions back to 9th.

Lap 27: Andretti, RWallace, Jarrett, Spencer, Elliott, Earnhardt, Schrader,
MWaltrip, JGordon, WBurton

MWaltrip gets around Schrader for sixth and Earnhardt follows him into
seventh.

Earnhardt starts to backslide and he ends up in 8th.

Spencer and Jarrett are door handle-to-door handle for third but can't make
the pass.

Lap 30: Andretti, RWallace, Jarrett, Spencer, Elliott

Lap 33: Trouble on the backstretch. Spencer spins across the track. Skinner
and Little are involved further back as everybody checks up. Little has
heavy damage to the front end of his Thunderbird. Skinner's left front is
dented.

We're under caution for the first time on Lap 34 and the leaders come to
the pits.
