                    HORNADAY TURNS UP THE HEAT

ERIE, CO - Ron Hornaday and the NAPA Brakes team scored their fourth victory
of the year this past weekend (matching 1996 win total) at Louisville Motor
Speedway in Louisville, Ky. Hornaday qualified fourth and finished first. He
led all 225 laps of the vent. This was the NAPA team's third win in four
races.

 - Hornaday now has 14 wins in the NASCAR Truck Series. Just two off Mike
Skinner's (1995 Champion) Truck Series record.

 - NAPA Brakes crew chief Fred Graves has an impressive record since joining
the team in late May. He has won three out of six races. His short track
record is even better, two wins in two events.

 - The NAPA Brakes team will run the Chevy truck named "Melissa" again this
weekend at Colorado National Speedway in Erie, Colo. Melissa won this past
Saturday at Louisville. She now has nine wins on her resume.

 - The NAPA team welcomed back engine technician Buster Mullis at the
Louisville race. He severed a tendon on his ring finger during the post-race
inspection at Bristol, Tenn. He has had two operations to repair damage and
has now returned to his position with the team.

QUOTES:

NAPA Brakes driver Ron Hornaday on last week's Louisville win:

"I need to give the credit to Fred Graves and this awesome NAPA team. They
are giving me great Chevy trucks to drive. This truck was great all day. I
think everyone involved in this program," said Hornaday. "All the guys at DEI
(Dale Earnhardt, Inc.) are working hard and it is showing."

Comments on this weekend's event at Colorado National:

"I am looking forward to the trip to the Denver area. It's a great city with
diehard NASCAR fans. We will put on a good show for them," commented
Hornaday. "It's another tough little short track. I am looking forward to it.
It's somewhat like the Tucson (Ariz.) track and we had a good run there (he
won) - the difference is that you need to be on the bottom at Colorado."
