NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Pensacola 200 Postponed Due to Hurricane Danny

18 July 1997

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - July 18, 1997

DAYTONA BEACH, FL- Instead of the traditional colors of racing flags
waving on the flagstand, officials of Five Flags Speedway waved the
hurricane warning flag and were forced to postpone the NASCAR Slim Jim
All Pro Series Pensacola 200 due to the effects of Hurricane Danny.

The Pensacola 200 has been rescheduled for September 13 and the
activities on that date will tentatively mirror the original schedule
with Team Hauler Parking beginning at 9:00 a.m., Registration &
Inspection taking place starting at 10:00 a.m. NASCAR Slim Jim All
Pro Series Practice will run from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and two lap
Busch Pole Qualifying will get underway at 6:00 p.m. The green flag
will drop on the Pensacola 200 at approximately 8:00 p.m.

In related news the driver/car appearance that was scheduled for
Friday evening at Tracy's Sports Bar & Grill in Pensacola is
tentatively rescheduled for Friday evening September 12.

If the Pensacola 200 had run as scheduled, the event would have
represented the fourth race in a grueling seven race, six week
stretch.

Now the Slim Jim teams will earn a brief respite before heading off to
the $93,100 Coca-Cola Shootout scheduled for Saturday afternoon, July
26 at Heartland Park Topeka in Topeka, KS. This event, the only road
course race on the 20 race series schedule, will be broadcast live on
TNN at 4:00 EDT. Over 51 drivers have pre-entered this challenging
event. The Coca-Cola Shootout is a points paying event for Slim Jim
drivers as well as an invitational event for competitors in the NASCAR
Featherlite Southwest Tour and the Reb-Co Northwest Tour. The
starting field will consist of 32 of the finest NASCAR Touring Series
late model drivers from throughout the nation.
