NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Pensacola 200 Postponed Due to Hurricane Danny

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - July 18, 1997 DAYTONA BEACH, FL- Instead of the traditional colors of racing flags waving on the flagstand, officials of Five Flags Speedway waved the hurricane warning flag and were forced to postpone the NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series Pensacola 200 due to the effects of Hurricane Danny. The Pensacola 200 has been rescheduled for September 13 and the activities on that date will tentatively mirror the original schedule with Team Hauler Parking beginning at 9:00 a.m., Registration & Inspection taking place starting at 10:00 a.m. NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series Practice will run from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and two lap Busch Pole Qualifying will get underway at 6:00 p.m. The green flag will drop on the Pensacola 200 at approximately 8:00 p.m. In related news the driver/car appearance that was scheduled for Friday evening at Tracy's Sports Bar & Grill in Pensacola is tentatively rescheduled for Friday evening September 12. If the Pensacola 200 had run as scheduled, the event would have represented the fourth race in a grueling seven race, six week stretch. Now the Slim Jim teams will earn a brief respite before heading off to the $93,100 Coca-Cola Shootout scheduled for Saturday afternoon, July 26 at Heartland Park Topeka in Topeka, KS. This event, the only road course race on the 20 race series schedule, will be broadcast live on TNN at 4:00 EDT. Over 51 drivers have pre-entered this challenging event. The Coca-Cola Shootout is a points paying event for Slim Jim drivers as well as an invitational event for competitors in the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Tour and the Reb-Co Northwest Tour. The starting field will consist of 32 of the finest NASCAR Touring Series late model drivers from throughout the nation. -30-
