Diamond Ridge Motorsports Seeks Sponsorship for 1998

5 August 1997

CHARLOTTE, NC - Add Diamond Ridge Motorsports to the list of NASCAR Winston Cup teams seeking primary sponsorship for the 1998 season.

According to team owner Gary Bechtel, the split with Cartoon Network, a product of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., was a mutual decision by both parties.

Cartoon Network, which joined Diamond Ridge Motorsports just prior to the 1996 season, is currently represented on the #29 Chevrolets driven by 1997 NASCAR Winston Cup Rookie of the Year contender Jeff Green.

Green replaced Robert Pressley behind the wheel of the team's Monte Carlos in late May. In the nine races since joining the team, the Owensboro, KY driver has just one top-twenty finish -- 7th in the inaugural California 500 at California Speedway. He failed to qualify for the Pepsi 400 at Daytona International Speedway during the first weekend in July.
