Star Enters Second Decade of NASCAR Busch North Series Racing FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE GARDINER, Me. -- Star Speedway in Epping, N.H. is one of New England's most established race tracks, and the running of the Wall's Auto/S&F Crane Service 150 marks the 11th straight year that Star Speedway has scheduled a NASCAR Busch North Series, Grand National Division race. Star has run a NASCAR Busch North Series race every year since the start of the series in 1987. There have been some memorable moments in past NASCAR Busch North Series events at Star, and the continuation of NASCAR Busch North Series racing at Star promises many more. Mike Weeden of Haverhill, Mass. and Larry Caron of Williston, Vt. can each look back fondly at Star Speedway as the site of their first-ever NASCAR Busch North Series wins. And who can forget the 1992 championship battle that came down to the final event of the year at Star? Dick McCabe of Kennebunkport, Me. squeaked by Joe Bessey of Scarborough, Me. by six points after changing a flat tire. Some legendary drivers have passed through Star's pit gates on their way to successful racing careers. Ricky Craven, Chuck Bown, Randy MacDonald and Dale Shaw are a few who have raced with the NASCAR Busch North Series at Star. One of the newest winners on the NASCAR Busch North Series, Kip Stockwell of Randolph, Vt., has indicated that he will be filing an entry for the Star event. Stockwell made the racing world sit up and take notice when he beat the veteran drivers in his first-ever NASCAR Busch North Series race at Thunder Road International Speedbowl a couple of weeks ago. Thunder Road is a quarter-miler like Star. As might be expected, the tight confines of the short track promise to bring the talent out, and it's anybody's guess who will win the Wall's Auto/S&F Crane Service 150. Star management has a number of seats for sale, but they are anticipating that people will only need the edge. -30-
