NASCAR Goody's Dash Series Adds St. Augustine Date

21 August 1997

ST. AUGUSTINE SPEEDWAY TO PICK UP NASCAR GOODY'S DASH SERIES DATE

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - NASCAR officials in Daytona Beach, Florida have announced
a change in the schedule of events for the NASCAR Goody's Dash Series. Under
this revised schedule, the NASCAR touring series will be making their first
appearance ever at the St. Augustine Speedway in St. Augustine, Fla. on
September 6, 1997. This event will be race number 17 of the 21 race schedule
and will be replacing the event previously scheduled for the Volusia County
Speedway on that same date.

The recent change in ownership of the Volusia County facility prompted the
change in the Series schedule. The new owners of the speedway have decided to
temporarily suspend racing and focus their full attention toward re-opening
the speedway for Speedweek events in February, 1998.

Hope Jones, spokesperson for the St. Augustine Speedway expressed enthusiasm
at the prospect of their facility hosting the NASCAR touring series event
while at the same time, indicating concern for their friends a short distance
to the south.

"We've always had a very good relationship with Volusia County Speedway." said
Jones. "If we can help NASCAR and the Goody's Dash Series by picking up this
date, we're more than happy to do so. We feel that it's in the best interest
of the fans in this area to give them the opportunity to see these NASCAR
touring series events whenever we can. And we're excited about the prospect of
hosting this event."

The addition of the St. Augustine Speedway to the 1997 NASCAR Goody's Dash
Series schedule brings to five, the number of race facilities that, even many
of the Series' veterans are seeing for the first time this year. Along with
the St. Augustine oval, events at Kingsport, Tenn., Charlotte Motor Speedway,
USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Fla. and the Concord Motorsports Park
in Concord, N.C. are welcome additions to the schedule and provide new
challenges to test the skills of the drivers and crews, alike.

Ticket information for this event is available by calling St. Augustine
Speedway offices Monday through Friday at 904-825-2886.
