MB2 Motorsports and Derrike Cope Part Ways

CHARLOTTE, NC (August 25th 1997)-- MB2 Motorsports, owners of the #36
Skittles Pontiac, announced today that they and driver Derrike Cope have
decided to part ways at the end of the 1997 Winston Cup season.

Jay Frye, general manager of MB2 Motorsports talking of the mutual decision
said, "We felt as though it was in the best interest of everyone to pursue
other options at this time."

Frye continued, "We have the utmost in respect for Derrike as a driver and
a person."

Cope, talking about the split said, "Often the time comes in this sport
when you have to make a change. We have a lot of races left to run this
season and our goal remains the same - to win."

No formal announcement was made on who MB2 will put in the seat for the
1998 season but sources cloe to the team put the displaced Ernie Irvan in
the ride.
