AMERICA'S FAVORITE SPORTS CAR THUNDERS ONTO THE INTERNET Exclusive LIVE Video to Unveil the New 1998 Corvette Convertible For Immediate Release LOUISVILLE, KY & SACRAMENTO, CA; August 22, 1997--In conjunction with the National Corvette Museum, The Auto Channel will unveil the all-new 1998 Corvette Convertible on Friday, August 29, 1997. The live video presentation will emanate from the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This is the first public presentation of the highly anticipated new vehicle. The Auto Channel will also feature historic Corvette video clips on its on-line network. For over forty years America has had a love affair with Chevrolet's original sports car, the Corvette. Ever since it's creation in 1953, there has been an almost unexplainable passion for the Corvette, with thousands of clubs and organizations dedicated to this refined, yet powerful automobile. Americans have also been in love with the convertible. Whether it's on a racy Corvette or a luxury car, the public has always cherished the feel of the wind and sun on the open road. The Auto Channel pioneered the live introduction of new vehicles on the Internet when they teamed with Jaguar in October 1996 to launch the new XK8. The live video Jaguar introduction was staged at the Peterson Automobile Museum in Los Angeles. Earlier this year The Auto Channel Internet network also presented the world's first look at the Ferrari 550 Maranello and Lincoln Towncar. The technology used by The Auto Channel to cybercast the video coverage is VXtreme. VXtreme is a proprietary "real time video streaming" technology developed by VXtreme, Inc., of Sunnyvale, California. VXtreme allows internet users to watch live and pre-recorded video in real-time, without the frustrating wait of excessive download times. Although there are other real-time video products on the market for use on the web, VXtreme's enhanced resolution and increased frame rate, even over a 28.8 kbs modem, provides internet users with the closest "TV like" experience. Over a 28.8 modem, typical frame rates average between 8 and 10 frames per second, and with a 56 kbs ISDN or X2 connection, frame rates average 12 to 15 frames per second. The Auto Channel's internet network can be accessed at "http://www.theautochannel.com". Internet users who wish to watch this history making coverage will need the VXtreme player software, which is available free and can be downloaded from The Auto Channel or the VXtreme website at "http://www.microsoft.com/netshow/vxtreme/software.htm". Installation is completed quickly and easily into both Netscape and Explorer browsers. The Auto Channel is sponsored by Pennzoil Products Company, Allstate Insurance, and the United States Army.
