JEFF GREEN TO SUBSTITUTE FOR DAVID GREEN IN RED MAN TRUCK AT RICHMOND CENTRAL CITY, KY - Due to injuries suffered in the Goody's 500 NASCAR Winston Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway on August 23, David Green will not drive the Brewco Motorsports Red Man Chevrolet in the Virginia is for Lovers 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Richmond International Raceway on September 4. Brewco Motorsports has named David's brother and fellow NASCAR Winston Cup Series rookie-of-the year candidate Jeff Green to handle the driving duties at the 0.75-mile speedway. The Central City, Kentucky based team is competing in select NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races in 1997, with David Green, NASCAR Busch Series regular Mark Green and Scot Walters alternating driving duties in the Red Man Chevrolet. "Originally, Brewco Motorsports had planned on Jeff driving the Red Man truck in select races in 1997, but when Scot Walters joined our team at the start of the season, those plans changed," explained team owner Clarence Brewer, Jr. "We welcome Jeff to Brewco Motorsports but hate that he had to join us under these circumstances. "We understand that David's primary focus is his NASCAR Winston Cup Series team and feel it is best for him to sit out the truck race at Richmond and concentrate on making a speedy recovery." D. Green suffered a broken right scapula (shoulder blade) in the accident and also lost a tooth. "It's very disappointing for me to miss the truck race at Richmond," said D. Green. "It's a good track for me. I ran the inaugural race for the Red Man team at Nazareth Speedway in June and it was really exciting. "Although I won't be driving the truck, I will still be in the pits at Richmond to help Jeff and the Brewco Motorsports team. I'm scheduled to drive the Red Man Truck at Martinsville on September 27 and by that time, I should be back at 100 percent." J. Green's start in the Red Man Truck at Richmond will mark the 34 year-old driver's first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start. "It's heartbreaking that I get the opportunity to make my first Truck Series start this way, but I guess everything happens for a reason," said J. Green, the youngest of the three racing Green brothers. "When Clarence Brewer asked me to fill in for David at Richmond, I didn't hesitate for a minute. Brewco Motorsports has a first-class team and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to showcase the Red Man truck." A recent graduate from the NASCAR Busch Series, J. Green, an Owensboro, Kentucky native, scored one win, five poles, 19 top five and 37 top 10 finishes in 109 NASCAR Busch Series starts. By Brewco Motorsports Public Relations
