FIELD: 36 cars. Starting positions 1-32 will be determined by time trials (2 
laps).  Positions 33-36 will be available to any of the top 30 eligible 
drivers in the current 1997 NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series Championship point 
standings, who have entered the event, but have not qualified for one of the 
original 32 starting positions. If a starting position(s) remains unfilled, 
then that starting position(s) will become available to the next eligible car 
from the qualifying procedure for the event.

THE RACE: The NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro 200 is the 16th of 20 races on the 1997 
series schedule. With this facility being a mainstay on the series schedule 
since 1991 expect series veterans to do quite well. This event was originally 
scheduled for July 19 but was postponed due to Hurricane Danny's presence in 
the area.

1996 REVIEW: Conyers, GA's Ron Young picked up the win last year and 
established the race record in the process. The driver of the Kendall Motor 
Oil/Heroes Super Cleaner Chevrolet bested Wildwood, FL's Wayne Anderson, 
Pensacola, FL's Tracy Goodson, Snellville, GA's Steve Allison and Mobile, 
AL's Rick Crawford. Another Pensacola resident, Eddie Mercer, established the 
track qualifying record during this event.

NOTES OF INTEREST:

 - An overflow field of cars is expected for this 200 lap event which carries 
a maximum starting field of 36 racers.

 - NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series drivers that have visited victory lane at 
Five Flags Speedway reads like a who's who of short track superstars. Bobby 
Gill (4 times), Jody Ridley, Rich Bickle, Toby Porter and Ron Young have all 
been victorious at Five Flags.

 - Conyers, GA's Young is the only previous Five Flags winner that is 
pre-entered for this event.

 - Local drivers such as Eddie Mercer, Tracy Goodson and Jr. Niedecken should 
be expected to enter this event although they have not filed pre-entries.

STAT OF THE WEEK: Zephyrhills, FL's David Reutimann, the leading Port City 
Racing Rookie candidate, leads the laps completed percentage in the NASCAR 
Slim Jim All Pro Series. The driver of the Sunstate Recycling Chevrolet has 
completed 2926 out of a possible 2970 laps for a laps completed percentage of 
98.5%.
