Notes of Interest: The "Discount Auto Parts/Quaker State 150" is race
No. 19 of the 21 race NASCAR Goody's Dash Series schedule. Thirty-six
entries are expected to take the green flag in this first ever NASCAR
sanctioned event at the beautiful USA International Speedway. The
tight points and rookie races currently taking place in this Series
will place added importance on this event and put some added pressure
on the teams involved in these point battles to do well here. But, as
pressure-packed as the racing will be, there will also be many
excellent opportunities for the teams to relax and get to know the
Central Florida race fans and media. Following the optional practice
Friday at the speedway, there will be a Pit Party held in honor of the
teams at the Hooters North at exit 18 of I-4 in Lakeland. Festivities
there are expected to get underway at about 9 pm. Friday morning, race
sponsor, Discount Auto Parts will sponsor a "Four Man Scramble" type
format golf tournament for the Series participants and support staff
at the Schalamer Creek Golf and Country Club. The tournament is
scheduled for an 8 am shotgun start. Following qualifying Saturday
evening, the drivers will once again, assemble for an autograph
session to give the fans at the Speedway an opportunity to visit with
the stars of the NASCAR Goody's Dash Series. In addition to the
regular Series competitors, many of the local racing favorites of the
Central Florida region will be on hand for this event to test their
skills against the best the NASCAR Goody's Dash Series has to
offer. Many of the competitors are taking advantage of this high
profile event to schedule additional personal appearances and show car
appearances at many locations around the area in the days just prior
to the event. Check local promotional releases for more information on
these appearances. Fans in attendance at the speedway will also be
treated to Indy Racing League and Hooters Pro Cup show cars for their
inspection. In all, a full weekend of close racing and other
attractions to satisfy the race fans appetite for action. And, lots of
opportunities for the fan to get right in there and mix it up with the
NASCAR stars.
