MIKE MCLAUGHLIN NOTES & QUOTES: ALL PRO BUMPER TO BUMPER 300
CONCORD, NC - On Monday, October 6, 1997 McLaughlin will celebrate his 41st
birthday. "I plan to celebrate my birthday with family and friends who are
coming to town for the race weekend," said McLaughlin. "Hopefully we will have
more than my birthday to celebrate."
- After starting the Charlotte spring race in 30th position, the #34 Royal
Oak Charcoal got loose and spun on lap 30. Team 34 did everything they could
to repair the damage, and on lap 92 McLaughlin got back out on the track. He
finished the race in 33rd by completing 131 of 200 laps.
- "I really enjoy racing at Charlotte," said McLaughlin "It is a fast track,
and there is more than one groove which allows for easier passing."
- McLaughlin is currently in sixth place in the NASCAR Busch Series point
standings. He trails fifth position by 22 points.
- The #34 Royal Oak Charcoal Chevrolet that McLaughlin will drive this
weekend is the same car that finished 33rd at Charlotte earlier this year. It
is also the same car in which McLaughlin finished fifth at Texas Motor
Speedway and 17th in at Atlanta during the spring.
