NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series Mannheim Auctions All American 400 Preview

13 October 1997

Anderson Tuning Up for All American 400 Repeat

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - October 13, 1997

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - Wayne Anderson is getting ready to defend his 1996
win in the $128,575 Manheim Auctions All American 400. Anderson, who
already leads the NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series in '97 wins with
three, would like to become the first driver since Jeff Purvis to earn
a repeat win in the richest race on the NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series
schedule.

The winner will earn a minimum of $20,000, with potential earnings
nearing $30,000. With that as an incentive, over 65 cars have
pre-entered the event, hoping to gain one of 40 starting spots for the
race, which will be broadcast on TNN on a same day tape delayed basis.

"Last year we had a good car all day, managed to stay out of trouble,
then moved to the front late in the race," noted Anderson, "I'd like
nothing more than to repeat as the winner of the Manheim Auctions All
American 400. The Porter Cable Power Tools team can always use the
money, and I'd sure like to earn another Gibson Guitar," the Wildwood,
Fla. resident added.

Since 1991, when the event was placed on the NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro
Series schedule, there have been four different winners. Purvis has
won the event three times, while Mike Garvey, Bobby Gill and Anderson
have each won once. Purvis, Gill and Anderson have pre-entered, along
with a host of NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series regulars, all hoping to
add their name to the record book in this historic event.

Preparations for the Manheim Auctions All American 400 get underway on
Thursday, October 16 with registration beginning at 8:00 a.m. and
practice beginning at Noon. On Friday registration & inspection
begins at 8:00 a.m. with practice sessions commencing at 9:00 a.m.

starts at 2:00 p.m. Saturday's schedule is jam packed with practice
taking place from 10:30 a.m. to Noon, followed by two 20 lap last
chance qualifying races starting at 1:00 p.m. Following the last
chance races is the lucrative Comdata 200, a 200 lap Late Model Stock
