FIELD: 40 cars.  Starting positions 1-28 will be determined by time
trials (2 laps). Positions 29-32 will be available to any of the top
30 eligible drivers in the current 1997 NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series
Championship point standings, who have entered the event, but have not
qualified for one of the original starting positions.  Positions 33-36
will be available to the top two finishers in each of two last chance
qualifying races who elect to transfer to the All American 400.
Positions 37-38 will be available to the next two fastest qualifiers
from time trials who did not make the All American 400 through either
time trials or the last chance races.  Positions 39-40 have been
established as Promoter's Option positions.

THE RACE: The All American 400 is the 19th of 20 races on the 1997
NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series schedule.  At 400 laps around the 0.596
mile paved oval, the event is the longest on the series schedule, and
with posted awards of $128,575, is also the most lucrative.

1996 REVIEW: Wayne Anderson earned his first career NASCAR Slim Jim
All Pro Series win, and did it in an event record time.  Rounding out
the top five were Matt Kenseth, series regular Ron Young, Scot Walters
and three-time winner Jeff Purvis.

NOTES OF INTEREST

? As of Monday, October 13, 67 cars have pre-entered this event, which
has a maximum starting field of 40 cars.


? A tight points race is on the line in the NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro
Series.  Darlington, SC's Hal Goodson leads Milford, OH's Jeff Fultz
by a mere 10 points with two races left on the '97 schedule.  Conyers,
GA's Ron Young trails leader Goodson by 86 points.

STAT OF THE WEEK: In the 18 different races run in 1997, there have
been 13 different winners and 12 different pole sitters.
