16 October 1997
NOFFSINGER RESIGNS MOORESVILLE, NC - Brad Noffsinger, who served as crew chief for Team SABCO during the 1996 and 1997 seasons, has resigned effective immediately. Noffsinger, 37, left the team prior to the Oct. 12 DieHard 500 at Talladega, Ala., to pursue his own driving interests. He stated that his focus will be centered around the USAC Silver Crown series. Noffsinger also is a former NASCAR Winston Cup Series driver who drove a No. 98 Mike Curb entry in 1988. He served as crew chief during Team SABCO's limited run in the 1996 Craftsman Truck Series with driver Jay Sauter. He also served as crew chief in four late-season Winston Cup events in which Team SABCO fielded a second team (with Robby Gordon, Rockingham, N.C., Charlotte and Phoenix; and Greg Sacks, Atlanta). Noffsinger was named crew chief for Wally Dallenbach Jr. last November when the team announced it would field a limited Winston Cup Series schedule with No. 46 and First Union for the 1997 season. Noffsinger led the No. 46 Dallenbach / First Union entry in 18 events in 1997. By Team SABCO Public Relations
