NHRA Revell Nationals Sees McClenathan Set Speed Record at 320mph

In the final round of Top Fuel at the Revell Nationals (Ennis, TX), Cory McClenathan beat Joe Amato with a 4.802 et and 302.21 mphi. However, on his way to winning the day the Anaheim, CA, Flash set a new world's drag racing record when he zapped the lights at 321.77mph and a 4.570 et in the semi finals. Amato also topped 320 mph in the semi, and both drivers broke Kenny Bernstein's one-year old record of 319 mph. Owner of the McClenathan piloted dragster is former Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs whose former team also won yesterday In Funny Car Al Hoffman driving a Firebird beat out points leader John Force with a 5.083, 261.60 mph to Force's 15.878 as John puked it at the christmas tree. Points leader Jim Yates took the honors in Oro Stock driving his Firebird 197.41 mph, 7.023 over Warren Johnson at 7.040 194.42 mph.
