NASCAR BGN Series ACDelco 200: Jeff Burton on Pole
24 October 1997
ROCKINGHAM, NC -- Jeff Burton will take the field to green in Saturday's ACDelco 200 Busch series event. Burton snagged the pole when he ran a hot lap at a 151.734 (24.129 second) miles per hour. Sitting next to Burton, on the outside pole, is Tony Stewart. Stewart got his spot after he circled the 1.017 mile track with a 24.159 (151.546 mph) second lap. The drivers that'll round out the top-five are Dick Trickle, last week's Busch series winner - Todd Bodine and Blaise Alexander. The ACDelco starting grid was set in this one round of qualifying. Two notables will be loading up and going home - Jason Jarrett and the son of coach Joe Gibbs - J D Gibbs. Young Gibbs problems started when he spun out turn four on his second lap. He didn't make contact but the move probably robbed him of a starting spot. The ACDelco will roll off tomorrow (Saturday) at 2:00 PM Eastern. Mike Snow -- The Auto Channel
