Schneider National to Sponsor Trickle in Shoemaker Racing's 1998 NASCAR BGN Car
16 November 1997
HAMPTON, GA - Shoemaker Racing's NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division entry driven by Dick Trickle will carry sponsorship from Schneider National, Inc. in 1998 "Of course, since we are a Green Bay, Wisconsin-based company it is a natural that we begin our NASCAR involvement with Wisconsin's favorite driver, Dick Trickle," said John Lanigan, President of the Transportation Sector for Schneider National. "Our involvement in NASCAR is the result of three years of study by our company. We recognized the explosive growth of the sport and believe that his sponsorship is a perfect fit. Dick Trickle drove Dennis Shoemaker's Chevrolet to a 14th-place finish in the 1997 series point standings in spite of having to miss two races to fulfill his full-time Winston Cup commitment. The XX-year old driver is expected to compete in all but six races next season. A replacement pilot will be named to fill-in for the races that conflict with the Winston Cup schedule. Schneider National, Inc. replaces Dura-Lube as the team's primary sponsor.
