Brazilian Racing News: Dorricott Racing Indy Lights Testing
17 November 1997
Dorricott Racing staged a 2-day driver test at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona, November 10-11 to evaluate drivers for a possible seat with the team in 1998. Over the two days, 6 drivers were evaluated by the team: Marcos Gueiros (F3000), Rino Mastronardi (Barber Dodge), Tim Moser (ARCA Supercar), Oswaldo Negri (Indy Lights), Philipp Peter (German GT2), and Bryan Selby (Barber Dodge). Team owner Bob Dorricott, Sr. said, "This is a group of very talented young drivers that would do very well in any racing series". The fastest time was set by Peter, with 48,85: "I had luck to get the car when the track was colder," said a delighted Peter. "I am very satisfied with my time, I was the driver that was on track at the hottest moment, and my time, just 2/10 of a second away from the Austrian, left me very confident. Brazilian Oswaldo Negri, Jr. said, "When Peter was on track at the same time as I, he was 7/10 slower than me." Negri's best lap was 49.06 secs. Negri, who is looking to race in Indy-Lights next year, was very impressed with the team and all the equipment they have.
