IMS Announces Driver Autograph Session at Indy Store

IMS' BRICKYARD AUTHENTICS CIRCLE CENTRE MALL STORE TO CELEBRATE FIRST ANNIVERSARY WITH AUTOGRAPH SESSION, SALE For Immediate Release INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 14, 1997) -- Indianapolis 500 drivers including Eddie Cheever, Davey Hamilton, Lyn St. James and Johnny Rutherford will sign autographs as part of the first anniversary celebration of Brickyard Authentics, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's retail store in Circle Centre Mall in downtown Indianapolis, on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 22-23. In addition to driver autograph sessions, which take place Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon - 5 p.m., select 1997 event merchandise will be on sale for $9.95. The first 500 customers will receive a free 1997 die-cast event car, and drawings will be held for free 1998 Indianapolis 500 tickets and IMS apparel. Brickyard Authentics, the Speedway's first off-site retail store, opened in the busy Circle Centre Mall on November 1, 1996, and has enjoyed substantial sales and popularity in its first year. The store is located on the second level of Circle Centre near Nordstroms. Hours are 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. "The downtown Brickyard Authentics store was our first experiment in selling merchandise at a location away from the Speedway, and public reaction has been fantastic," said IMS President Tony George. "We're very proud to be part of a thriving and rejuvenated downtown Indianapolis. The driver autograph sessions and merchandise sale is our way of saying 'thanks' to our customers." A second store, opened in July, is located at the Indianapolis International Airport. Both stores are operated by IMS Properties, Inc., a subsidiary of the Speedway. In addition to Brickyard Authentics, IMS Properties operates the Official Trackside Gift Shops at the Hall of Fame Museum, plus all mail-order retailing and licensing.
