Chieftain/Sunflyer Feature New Dual Slide Models

5 December 1997

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The 1998 Winnebago Chieftain and Itasca Sunflyer, revolutionary new
Class A motor homes from Winnebago Industries, Inc., have supreme
floorplan flexibility that 'live big.'

Now the Chieftain and Sunflyer live even bigger with the addition of
the new 34WY dual slideroom model. With the Chieftain and Sunflyer,
Winnebago Industries has created a motor home that will set new
industry standards in motor home livability and function. In addition
to the couch/galley slideout in the front of the motor home, the new
34WY model also features a new bedroom slide for even greater
versatility.

The 34WY bedroom features a side-facing, full residential size queen
bed in a slideout room with full depth overhead cabinet and
nightstands. The driver's side of the bedroom area features
built-in cabinets with drawers and TV storage, a desk/vanity with file
drawer storage and tool drawer, a bi-fold mirrored wardrobe and shelf
storage. When open, the slideout offers a full 24 inches of walking
space around the bed in addition to the wealth of storage space.

The galley slideout features the new StoreMore(TM) slideout system
that provides spacious interior cabinets as well as large, well
insulated and laminated compartments on the exterior that slide out
with the room for easy access to stored items. The slideout is also
user friendly. There is no step up in front of the convertible
couch/bed and beautiful overhead cabinets provide plentiful interior
storage as well. Finally, you don't have to sacrifice storage in
order to have a slideout.

The raised floor design of the widebody Chieftain and Sunflyer
provides deeper exterior storage compartments as well. Heat is ducted
into the fixed compartments and the exterior service center for
year-round use of the motor home. For ease of usage, the service
center has a new design with a swivel drain valve, black water holding
tank flush system, sewer hose and cover, telephone and cable TV inputs
and a 90 degree fresh water fill with tank fill diverter valve.

And the innovation doesn't stop there. The motor home utilizes a
split electrical power system with separate circuit breaker panels for
120 VAC and 12 VDC with a 45 amp converter/charger (33WB) or 55 amp
converter/charger (35WH, 36WL) remotely located to reduce heat and
noise to the interior of the coach. The system also includes an
automatic shore power/generator changeover switch. Thirty amp
detachable power supply cord is standard, while the 50 amp detachable
is optional.

Another new technological breakthrough for the Chieftain and Sunflyer
is the PowerLine(TM) Energy Management System. When utilizing 30 amp
service, this fully automatic system has the ability to run two roof
air conditioners at the same time by monitoring the usage of 120 volt
electrical power and redistributing the power as needed. The high
efficiency air conditioning is ducted through the roof using
residential ducting (vs. flexible ducting) with dampening, directional
vents so that the cooled air may be distributed efficiently and
quietly throughout the entire motor home, in addition to providing a
reduction in the 120 VAC electrical load.

The large panoramic windshield and side windows, as well as a
bus-style front-end design, provide superior driver and passenger
vision. Visibility is further enhanced with standard fog lights. A
standard drivers' door, a wide entrance door and entrance steps
with rubber, non-skid matting provide ease of entry.

High line interior appointments provide a stunning first impression of
the Chieftain and Sunflyer. Nearly all of the new Chieftain and
Sunflyer models feature a new galley slideout with convertible
couch/bed. Each floorplan provides unique and innovative touches such
as the special lounge table in the 33WB with sliding extension top.
Located behind the passenger seat, the table provides an excellent
writing or computer work space with a 120 VAC duplex receptacle and
telephone wall plate. The 33WB and new 34WY also feature a private
toilet and lavatory room with a full tub/shower and linen storage
across the hall. The 36WL also features a unique bathroom arrangement
with private toilet area, large corner tub/shower with glass door and
privacy panels, lavatory and wardrobe. All Chieftain and Sunflyer
models have an innovative slideout workstation available that is
mounted on top of the passenger side of the dashboard with handy
storage below. The workstation is perfect for working on your
computer or for writing postcards to your family and friends.
