NASCAR BGN: Mark Green/Brewco To Use Katech Engines In '98

18 December 1997

Central City, Ky. - Brewco Motorsports, Inc. will utilize engines prepared by Katech Engine Development in its No. 37 Timber Wolf Chevrolet with driver Mark Green during the 1998 NASCAR Busch Series season.

"We are very pleased to be a part of the Katech family," said Brewco Motorsports team manager Todd Wilkerson. "They are proven winners and champions."

In addition to supplying Brewco Motorsports with engines, Katech also provides the power for three-time NASCAR Busch Series champions Bace Motorsports, Reiser Enterprises and ST Motorsports.

"When we add a team to our engine program, we look for one with the potential for victory," said Walter Freeze, VP/General Manager Katech Engine Development. "Brewco Motorsports and Mark are very capable of winning in the NASCAR Busch Series."

Headquartered in Clinton Township, Michigan, Katech has received the NASCAR Busch Series AE Clevite Engine Builder Award the past three seasons.

Owensboro, Kentucky resident Mark Green and the Timber Wolf/Brewco Motorsports team have a busy testing schedule in January as they prepare for the 1998 NASCAR Busch Series season.

The first scheduled test for Green is not with the Brewco Motorsports team, but instead with the NASCAR Winston Cup Series team his brother David drives for. Green will drive the No. 96 Caterpillar Chevrolet in a few sessions of the January 3-5 test held for Chevrolet teams at the Daytona International Speedway.

On January 8-10, Green and the Brewco Motorsports team will launch their 1998 NASCAR Busch Series season by testing the No. 37 Timber Wolf Chevrolet at the Talladega Superspeedway. The team then heads to Daytona International Speedway on January 15-16 where they will make the final preparations for the season opener at Daytona on February 14, 1998.

The final test for Green and the Brewco Motorsports team in January is on January 26 at the newly reconfigured Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The newly formed Mark Green Fan Club is accepting members for the 1998 season. Members will receive updates detailing Green's progress during the 1998 NASCAR Busch Series season and much more.
