1998 NASCAR Goody's Dash Series Schedule Announced; Teams to Race with New Six-cylinder Engines

22 December 1997

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 19, 1997)-- The NASCAR Goody's Dash Series
will celebrate NASCAR's 50th Anniversary with 1 8 races at 1 7 speedways. A
new option of six-cylinder powerplants will make the sub~ompact touring
series even more exciting as teams choose the new engines or the
traditional four-cylinder counterparts.

The 18-race schedule will have the teams traveling to the premiere
superspeedways of Daytona International Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway
and the Metro-Dade Homestead Motorsports Complex as well as the high-banked
short track of Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. The season is scheduled to
kick off Friday, Feb. 13, with the Series' traditional opener during
Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway.

"The combination of NASCAR Goody's Dash Series competitors' skills on
short tracks and superspeedways, coupled with a new six-cylInder engine
option, promises to make NASCAR's 50th Anniversary season extremely
exciting for fans and competitors alike," said Dennis Huth, NASCAR vice
president for administration.

Two tracks that have been missing from the NASCAR Goody's Dash Series
schedule for a number of seasons will once again be visited by this unique
touring series in 1998. Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, N.C. and South
Boston (Va.) Speedway will host events for the sub-compact touring series
for the first time in almost a decade.

Other changes to the 1998 schedule will bring the Series to Charlotte
Motor Speedway on Wednesday, May 20, to coincide with the NASCAR Winston
Cup Pole Night. This event will mark the second appearance for the NASCAR
Goody's Dash Series under the lights at Charlotte. The Concord Motorsport
Park event has also been moved up from November to August 1 5th The earlier
date there should ease the turn around time for the teams as they prepare
for the season finale at Homestead.

Late additions to the 1 997 schedule, St. Augustine (Fla.) Speedway and
USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Fla., return for 1998 as are almost
all of the other venues that have been stalwart supporters of the NASCAR
Goody's Dash Series for many years.
