Mike Rodriguez to Compete on Modified Tour in 1998

20 January 1998

Drums, PA -- The teams of the Featherlite Modified Tour will have a new driver in its ranks for the 1998 campaign as Modified Driver Mike Rodriguez has announced that he will compete in a limited schedule for the season ahead. The 41-year old Drums, PA resident began his racing career in the mid 1970s as a Crew Member and Crew Chief with his driving career beginning in 1989. In 1992, it was a move to the Modifieds where he has won over 30 feature events across the Northeast United States. In 1996, Rodriguez competed at Tioga Speedway where he visited victory lane three times and finished sixth in the tracks points standings. Looking ahead to 1998 Rodriguez says, As of right now, were making a commitment to run the Modified Tour on a part time basis. We will run the nationally televised events, with the possibility of a full time commitment contingent on sponsorship. Although the Modified Tour is a very tough division, I have been fortunate in that I have been able to adjust well to tracks that I have never raced at before. We have purchased a new Raceworks chassis, and will run a Morgantini engine and Hoosier Tires. We are looking forward to the season ahead and have a good initial year on the Featherlite Modified Tour.

Marketing opportunities are available for the 1998 season with Mike Rodriguez. Rodriguez says, Exposure with the Modified Tour offers a sponsor the opportunity to have their message delivered to a national television audience throughout the course of the season for a very reasonable investment. The Tour also competes with the likes of the Winston Cup, Busch Grand National, Craftsman Truck, and Indy Racing League Series during the year, and a sponsor also receives the benefits of participation before their fans as well. We have a program in place to ensure complete sponsorship maintenance, and we feel that we can enhance the bottom line of any corporation that is a part of our team.
