Kenny Jacobs Lands Champ Ride

Holmesville, OH -- Sprint Car star KENNY JACOBS of Holmesville,OH, the new driver of the Hughes Motor Sports #94 Sprint Car team, recently announced that he will be driving the Casey & Beverly Luna - owned USAC Silver Crown Champ Car during the annual Copper World Classic at Phoenix International Raceway in Arizona. Jacobs has won before in Champ Car racing, including the sports Hoosier Hundred.

Jacobs will be in the Luna - owned, Vivarin-sponsored #110 during the events staging which will be held January 30, 31 & February 1. Joining Jacobs as crew will be Joe Holtzman and Russ Rhea.

I appreciate this ooportunity, said Jacobs,who added, Casey and Beverly Luna are great people and this is a good opportunity to have some fun. I love racing the ol champ cars, and hope we can bring home a winner next weekend.

Jacobs also stated that there is a chance the whole team might regroup a little later and perhaps run as many as three additional USAC Silver Crown races. If the schedule works out to where it doesnt conflict with my Sprint Car deal, then Id like to try and compete at Sacremento, IRP and the new track in St. Louis, commented Jacobs. Jacobs also expressed an interest in someday owning his own Champ Car team.

Jacobs, who recently returned from Australia, is also gearing up for the 1998 All Star Circuit of Champions season in which he and car owner Tim Hughes will go after the championship title. Were getting ready,were almost there, said Jacobs. The team will debut in Florida during Speedweeks. Everything is just about done. Everything is falling into placeand it just looks real good, said Jacobs, adding, Barry (Jackson,crew chief) has been working hard and getting everything ready. Barrys craftsmanship is unbelievable! This deal is going to be fun to run!
