USAR Hooters ProCup Series Announces Four Champions Challenge Series Dates
29 January 1998
Fayetteville, GA - The intriguing concept of the "Four Champions Challenge Series" continues to generate pit road conversations among drivers throughout the Hooters ProCup Series. Announced by Robert H. Brooks, executive commissioner of the United Speed Alliance Racing Sanctioning Body on January 10, the series within a series boasts a $500,000 season ending bonus to any series driver who can win the 1998 Hooters ProCup championship and all four of the Four Champions Challenge Series races. Eastern Foods, Inc. and its Jackaroo Meat Sauces Brands will sponsor the Four Champions Challenge Series and will reward any driver to win two of the four races a $25,000 bonus, three of the four races a $100,000 bonus, and if a driver wins all four of the designated races a $250,000 bonus. If that driver can also add the 1998 Hooters ProCup championship to his resume, he will have won $1,000,000 alone in bonus money on the 1998 Hooters ProCup Series. The four tracks that will host the Four Champions Challenge Series include: Peach State Speedway in Jefferson, GA (Sunday, May 17); Tri-County Speedway in Hudson, NC (Friday, June 12); Myrtle Beach Speedway in Myrtle Beach, SC (Sunday, October 18); and USA International Speedway in Lakeland, FL (Friday, November 27). The Four Champions Challenge Series was created to honor the memory of the four men who perished in an April 1, 1993 plane crash. "It is designed to award its winner properly for accomplishing a difficult task in auto racing. I believe it's a series that Alan Kulwicki, Mark Brooks, Dan Duncan and Charlie Campbell would approve of," said Brooks. The $1.5 million 20-race series begins its second season on Sunday, March 1 with the running of the Discount Auto Parts 300 at USA International Speedway.
