Alwin Springer Joins USRRC Board of Directors

ALWIN SPRINGER JOINS USRRC BOARD OF DIRECTORS


        DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 31, 1998)—Alwin Springer, Director of
Porsche Motorsport, North America, has joined the United States Road Racing
Championship Board of Directors, serving as the Board’s eighth member.
        Springer, who serves on the Board as a GT representative, joins
Chairman Bob Snodgrass, Nick Craw, Kevin Doran, Rob Dyson, Carl Haas, Don
Panoz and John Saunders.
        ”We’re pleased Alwin has accepted to serve on the USRRC Board of
Directors,” said Snodgrass. “Alwin represents a large contingent of teams
and drivers participating in the USRRC, and he has played a major role in
sports car racing in the United States. Alwin is committed to the future
direction of GT racing and has the experience to ensure that our strategies
meet the needs of competitors in all of the USRRC’s GT classes.”
        "I welcome the opportunity to help direct the USRRC along a path
that will lead to balanced competition between the Can-Am and GT1, and
within the GT classes,” said Springer. “Additionally, our primary goal must
be to establish long-term rules stability and ensure that the interests of
competitors in all of the classes are served.”
        Before his assignment as Director of Porsche Motorsport, N.A.,
Springer, of Huntington Beach, Calif., was associated with Porsche
race-engine builder Andial.
