Brad Doty Bestowed Prestigious Awards

Apple Creek,OH - Former World of Outlaws star and current television broadcaster BRAD DOTY, 40, Apple Creek,OH, has been awarded the National Sprint Car Polls most prestigious award and highest honor, the Outstanding Contribution to the Sport Award, for his efforts in recent years as an overall ambassador for the sport of Sprint Car racing. In addition, Doty was also awarded the coveted Media Member of the Yea Award.

Doty, a television on-air personality for The Nashville Network (TNN) and other networks, is also a former national Sprint Car driver who had a storied career from 1978-1988, when he retired from driving after sustaining an injury. Dotys background is utilized by the networks to provide expert on-air analysis during the broadcasts of Sprint Car racing, notably the Pennzoil World of Outlaws series.

I am very proud to have even been nominated for these awards, but to win both was a tremendous surprise! said Doty. I am also thankful to TNN and Ralph Shaheen for allowing me to continue to learn the TV business on their time. Even though Doty has been out of the drivers seat for ten years, his work in television keeps him close to the sport he loves. Doing these TV broadcasts, said Doty, Has gotten me back involved to where I feel I am a part of racing again.

The National Sprint Car Poll is an official awards program of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation,Knoxville,IA. Representatives from the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame will be on hand July 16,1998, at Attica Raceway (OH) Park, to officially present Doty his awards during the running of the ASCoC-sanctioned Brad Doty Classic.
