IMS Announces Ticket Availability for IROC Race

Ticket Orders Now Being Accepted For Initial IROC Race At Indianapolis Motor Speedway INDIANAPOLIS--Feb. 11, 1998--Ticket orders for the first True Value Firebird International Race of Champions (IROC) race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Friday, July 31, 1998 are now being accepted at the IMS ticket office by mail only. The IROC race, the finale of a four-race series, will feature stars of the Pep Boys Indy Racing League, NASCAR Winston Cup, CART, SCCA Trans Am and NASCAR Busch Series competing against each other in equally prepared Pontiac Firebirds. Among those competing will be defending Indianapolis 500 champion Arie Luyendyk, IRL series champion Tony Stewart, Winston Cup series champion Jeff Gordon, defending IROC series titlist Mark Martin, former PPG CART champions Jimmy Vasser and Al Unser Jr. Also competing will be Winston Cup stars Dale Jarrett, Jeff Burton, Dale Earnhardt and Terry Labonte, SCCA Trans-Am titlist Tommy Kendall and Busch Series title holder Randy LaJoie. The IROC race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will follow qualifications for the Brickyard 400 on Friday afternoon. All grandstands will be open for seating on a first-come, first-served basis. The $25 general admission ticket includes a full day of activity with qualifications, final practice for competitors in the Brickyard 400 and the IROC race. Checks should be made payable to "Brickyard 400" and orders should include the quantity needed and complete name and address for mailing of the tickets. Tickets will be mailed after June 1, 1998.
