Voice of IMS Speaks for 16th Street Speedway

26 February 1998

(Indianapolis, IN) The 16th Street Speedway management announced today that Bob Jenkins has been contracted to serve as the track's spokesperson for the 1998 racing season.

"We are extremely pleased to welcome Bob on board," said Jim Voyles of the 16th Street Speedway. "Bob brings invaluable experience to our track. He is one of the best known and well-respected members of the motorsports community. We feel he will add a new and dynamic aspect to the 16th Street Speedway."

"I have been excited by the concept of the 16th Street Speedway since it was announced that Tony George, David Cassidy and Jim Voyles were going to build it. It is the grass roots racing I grew up on," Jenkins said. "When you look at the talent that raced here last season, racers like Tony Stewart, Billy Boat, Jimmy Kite and Kenny Irwin and knowing they are planning on coming back this season, that is thrilling! This is one exciting place to watch a race. I am very happy to do anything I can to support the 16th Street Speedway."

Jenkins, the Voice of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway radio network and anchor for ESPN's coverage of NASCAR Winston Cup racing, will work closely with the Advertising and Marketing Departments of the 16th Street Speedway.

The 16th Street Speedway season opens April 25, 1998 with the USAC National Midgets.
