Kenny Jacobs Recovering: Return at Eldora

7 March 1998

Apple Creek,OH--Kenny Jacobs, the national Sprint Car star who was injured last Saturday afternoon at Lincoln (PA) Speedway in a spectacular crash, is currently at home recuperating. His injuries included a compressed upper sixth vertabrae in his back. Despite his injuries Jacobs has indicated that he expects to return to the seat of the Tim Hughes-owned #94 Sprint Car team when the All Star Circuit of Champions resume their season at Eldora (OH) Speedway on April 4,1998.

Jacobs said on Friday that he is doing much better although he is still sore and uncomfortable. The doctor said it should start decompressing in a week or so, said Jacobs. It could be a whole lot worse! Its too bad it happened, but at least the timing was good since theres no All Star races until Eldora. Jacobs is following doctors orders by resting and wearing a special brace, which can be distracting for someone who is so active.

Everyday I feel better and better...just looking forward to the next day! kidded Jacobs. I dont see any problem (recovering) uless I trip on something around the house, said Jacobs. I;m just glad Ill be racing at Eldora when I do come back. I know the track, and its relatively easy on the body. In the meantime the Hughes Motor Sports team will be working on motors and assembling a new car.

Jacobs is also appreciative of the outpouring of concern and well wishes that so many people have extended through cards, letters, phone calls,flowers,etc... I want to make sure everyone knows how thankful and grateful I am for all the concern! The cards, calls, flowers, all of it has been great! I really appreciate it and I want everyone to know that! exclaimed Jacobs.

Cards,letters,etc...can be sent to: Kenny Jacobs,%NCMS,PO Box 509,Apple Creek,OH,44606.
