New Indy Lights Team Announces 1998 Plans (revised)

16 March 1998

VANCOUVER, CANADA - Indy Lights team, Irish Motorsports and Bordin Racing, have joined with driver Tim Moser for the 1998 PPG-Dayton Indy Lights Championship season. They are set to debut at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, April 3-5.

The 1998 season consists of fourteen North American races.

Mike Ireland and Greg Anderson, owners of Irish Motorsports, are announcing the team's plans in Homestead, Florida, March 13 - 15. "My association with Tim Moser is based on his winning reputation and solid performance in the Barber Dodge Pro Series," says Ireland. The team has scheduled multiple test days throughout the season.

Moser, former Rookie of the Year in the Barber Dodge Pro Series says, "I'm looking forward to the opportunity to drive such an advanced technical race car." In 1997 Moser gained valuable oval experience when driving in three ARCA Stock Car races in Charlotte and Daytona; in addition, he performed in four GT3 races and one FIA Global GT race. Tim's first race of the 1998 season was at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, when engine failure cancelled his debut. "In 1997 I made the transition into cars with a roof. I look forward to returning to my original passion of open-wheel formula vehicles," said Moser.

For the fourth year running, Moser is sponsored by David Letterman's production company WORLDWIDE PANTS, INCORPORATED.

Irish Motorsports is currently working with Yves Veggie Cuisine and Super, Natural British Columbia to help support this year's racing and marketing efforts.

The Canadian based Irish Motorsports and Tim Moser of Phoenix, Arizona, are planning not only to finish every race, but to be regulars on the podium. Irish Motorsports has an incredible desire to succeed in this first season of PPG-Dayton Indy Lights racing. "Our team seems now to be almost complete with the signing of Tim. We hope that in the coming weeks we will sign a second driver to help fulfill all of our team goals and that through a two car environment we will blossom into champions."
