DRAGRACING: Rocca Earns Runner-Up at Moroso Motorsports Park All Chevy Event

17 March 1998

W. PALM BEACH, FL If two seasons can provide diametric opposites, then this season and last will be night and day for Leesburg, Virginias Johnny Rocca. The veteran Pro Modified pilot, who drives the USA Racing Worlds Quickest and Fastest 1949 Mercury, added another notch to his racing resume by earning a Pro Modified runner-up to Quain Stott at a Moroso Motorsports Park sanctioned event.

Anytime a driver can reach a final round, it should be cause to be happy, explained Rocca. This weekend was a test for us and I feel we passed it. These preseason races are helping us to gauge what our opening event at Bradenton is going to be like. I am confident that we will do well.

Rocca qualified #2 and recorded a Top Speed snaring 214.48 blast to reach the finals against Inman, South Carolinas Stott. The veteran was forced to lift in the finals and slowed to a 12.72/64.23 as Stott sped to a 6.846/196.72 for the win.
