Barber Dodge Practice 2, Sebring

20 March 1998

SEBRING, Fla. - For the first time ever with the new Reynard Dodge, all 30 Barber Dodge drivers went out for a timed session on equal tires. They happened to be Michelin wets. In testing and practice prior to today, the tires each driver was using might have had a lot more or a lot less mileage compared to the other drivers, as Michelin ramped up production for the Reynard Dodges. That's why the testing and practice times on Tuesday and Wednesday had to be taken with a grain of salt, as some drivers had much better tires than others. That wasn't the case today in practice, as the on-and-off rain here at Sebring left the track wet for the Barber Dodge session, so on went the Michelin Pilot SX racing wets. There was one "off" during the 30-minute session, when Owen Trinkler lost it in the sweeping left-hand Turn 14 and took a corner and the rear wing off the car. -Rick Roso
