WoO: Dollansky Replaces Brazier in Mopar Sprinter

23 March 1998

Richard Day

MESQUITE, TX- Craig Dollansky is the new driver of Gary Stanton's #75 Mopar Schnee, Pennzoil World of Outlaws officials learned Friday.

Stanton contacted Dollansky during the off-season, but chose to reunite with Brazier when Dollansky decided to stay with Jim Wahlie's Conn West team. Dollansky started his own team in January when Wahlie retired, then competed against Brazier for World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year honors through the first four events this season.

When asked why Brazier left the team, Stanton said, "He took a walk-about."

Several people close to the situation said Brazier left the team over a dispute with his father and crew chief, Steve Brazier. Garry returned to his native Australia and was unavailable for comment.

Dollansky said he was happy to be driving for Stanton even though he had performed well in his own #1x Polydome Gambler.

"I'm looking forward to racing with the Mopar team," he said. "I'm still going to be racing for Rookie of the Year, but now I won't have to race and pay the bills, too."

Dollansky ranks second in the Manufacturers Rookie of the Year standings after five events, 104 points behind Dale Blaney. Dollansky leads Tyler Walker by 28 points. WoO
