BGN: Elliott Sadler Notes and Quotes, Bristol
30 March 1998
Patience will be the operative word as the NASCAR Busch Series heads to the .533-mile high-banked bull ring of Bristol Motor Speedway. Elliott Sadler, driver of the No. 66 Phillips 66/Trop Artic Chevrolet Monte Carlo has learned a few things about the virtue of patience, especially at a track such as Bristol where the attrition rate runs high."It's going to take patience and luck to get us around Bristol this weekend," Sadler admitted. "Since luck hasn't been exactly on our side this season, we'll have to be extra patient. It's going to be important to get a good qualifying lap in so we can start up front. Bristol is so small it doesn't take long to lap the back of the field."
The Phillips 66 Performance Racing Team has added a new member to its staff.
Chad "Peanut" Smith joins the No. 66 team this weekend in Bristol as the new jackman. Smith left the No. 74 FINA Racing Team of Bace Motorsports to join Diamond Ridge Motorsports as the jackman for Elliott Sadler's Chevrolet on raceday, and will fulfill shop duties as a mechanic.
