INDYLIGHTS: Irish Motorsports/Bordin Racing and Tim Moser Ready for Long Beach

31 March 1998

VANCOUVER, CANADA - Let's start by saying that the only other time Tim Moser raced at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, he placed second overall - driving what is considered today the wave of the future, an electric car. However, it is hoped that this weekend his lap times will drop considerably, since this time out he won't need such a long extension cord.

It's believed that at one time or another we've all seen the Late Show with David Letterman, and we've probably all spotted Mr. Letterman trackside at one time or another. At the very least we've all heard his name at least once in our lives, and it's probable that we've all laughed at a joke or two of Mr. Letterman's. So why is this so important and noteworthy? Because Mr. Letterman's production company, WORLDWIDE PANTS INCORPORATED is the primary sponsor of Irish Motorsports/Bordin Racing driver Tim Moser.

Moser, who has multiple track records at venues such as Sears Point, Road America and Mid-Ohio has also earned the honor of Rookie of the Year in series such as the Russell Formula Mazda Championship Series, the Skip Barber Western Formula Ford Championship and the Barber Dodge Pro Series. Moser says, regarding his four-year association with WORLDWIDE PANTS INCORPORATED, "Dave is a huge racing fan, and I consider myself very fortunate to have his continuing support."

WORLDWIDE PANTS INCORPORATED is Moser's primary sponsor, but the Irish Motorsports/Bordin Racing team has some of its own VIPs. Yves Veggie Cuisine, Super Natural British Columbia and London Fog are all dedicated supporters of the team's 1998 effort.

Team owner Mike Ireland is very excited about the debut race of the season. Along with the excitement of creating Irish Motorsports, there is also a sense of confidence regarding the signing of Moser as their primary driver. "Though all efforts looked as though they had failed for this season, putting this team together in the eleventh hour seems to have brought synergy amongst us all." According to Moser, this team is very special and different from most of the teams at this level. "There seems to be a strong feeling of team unity. Everyone is at the same level striving for the same goal."

The deal between Irish Motorsports/Bordin Racing and Moser concluded about a month before the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Moser's first day of testing in the Indy Lights Lola T97/20 was three weeks ago, appropriately on Saint Patrick's day. No worries, though. Moser and the team have now had multiple test days to prepare both of them for this debut race. After the first test day out, Moser had logged over 250 miles and felt very comfortable in the race car.

Life is good for the team of Irish Motorsports/Bordin Racing. By the end of this race weekend, it will be even better.
