INDYLIGHTS: Moser and Bordin Racing Meet Goals in Indy Lights Debut

CHANDLER, ARIZONA. -- Indy Lights driver Tim Moser met his goals for his debut in the PPG-Dayton Indy Lights series last Sunday at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

Moser started 19th in the field of Indy Lights Lola 97/20 cars and moved up as high as 11th place by Lap 11 of the 47-lap race before engine power loss dropped him to 16th. Battling back in the closing laps, Moser finished in 14th position.

After the race Moser received telephoned congratulations from David Letterman, whose Worldwide Pants Incorporated production company is his sponsor.

"My goals for this first race were to drive cleanly and competitively, bring the car back in one piece and finish as high as possible," said Moser. "When I lost power I could only hang on to what the car would give me. Then, when it came back, I was able to do some serious racing.

"The Bordin Racing crew did a great job this weekend. I'm looking forward to running the season with them."

Moser and the Bordin Racing Indy Lights team join forces again on April 26 for the next Indy Lights race, on the 1-mile Nazareth Speedway tri-oval. "We're very impressed with Tim's driving ability and his ability to communicate to us what his car is doing," said Bordin team manager Mike Sheridan.

Moser plans two days of testing at Nazareth before the next race. "I have some oval track experience, fortunately, from the Barber Dodge Pro Series and the ARCA Supercar Series," he said, "but this first time on an oval with the Indy Lights car is going to be something very new. I'm confident, though, that we'll have a successful race weekend."
