12 April 1998

Central, City, Ky. (April 12, 1998) -- A scary incident occurred on pit road during the running of Saturday's Galaxy Foods 300 NASCAR Busch Series race at Hickory Motor Speedway injuring Timber Wolf/Brewco Motorsports team manager Todd Wilkerson.

On lap 234, Kevin Grubb was involved in a crash on the frontstretch, causing him to lose control of his steering and brakes. His car careened into the pit lane and crashed into the Timber Wolf team's pit cart on which Wilkerson was sitting.

Wilkerson, 36, jumped off the cart moments before the hard impact and suffered a fractured left wrist and fractured left radial head (elbow). The Owensboro, Kentucky resident was transported to Catawba Memorial Hospital and treated for his injuries.

Mark Green, driver of the No. 37 Timber Wolf Chevrolet Monte Carlo, finished 22nd.
