IndyLights: Cunningham and Boss Fast at Nazareth Test

23 April 1998

Brian Cunningham and Geoff Boss turned top five lap times during a recent open Indy Lights test session at Nazareth Speedway. The test session was used to determine baseline setups for the upcoming race at Nazareth on April 24-26. During the two days of testing, both Lucas Place Motorsports drivers put a total of 300 trouble free miles on their respective cars.

Team manager Chris Lucas feels optimistic about the team's chances this weekend on the fast one mile-oval. "The test went good," commented Lucas. "Both drivers ran in the top five, with Cunningham being slightly quicker, and we have a good baseline setup for when we go back."

Geoff Boss agreed with Lucas's assessment of the test session. "We made good progress during the test and should have a good start for Friday's first session," said Boss. "Some of the other drivers were concentrating on going fast and we were aiming for a good baseline setup. We learned quite a bit about how the weather changes the cars and the options that we have when that happens."

Lucas Place Motorsports will enter Nazareth on the heels of a career best second place finish by Geoff Boss. Brian Cunningham has also showed great promise and speed in the first two rounds of the season, but has been plagued with bad luck. The 100-lap race at Nazareth will air on ESPN2 at 6:00 p.m. EDT on Sunday, April 26. The race will also have an encore broadcast on May 7 at 3:30 a.m. EDT.
