TRACKS: WalMart Sponsors Bloomington Speedway's Indiana Street Stock Series

27 April 1998

BLOOMINGTON, IN - Bloomington Speedway and the Bloomington WalMart Tire & Lube Express have reached an agreement for season sponsorship of the Indiana Street Stock division at the Speedway. The WalMart Tire & Lube Express Indiana Street Stocks will compete eleven times in 1998, beginning with Bloomington Speedway's Opening Night, Friday, May 1. The sponsorship arrangement includes contingency awards for division feature race winners and discounts for race fans. Among the awards for the WalMart Tire & Lube Express Indiana Street Stock champion at the end of the season will be a new Campbell Hausfeld 5-hp air compressor.

"Usually when we set up a deal with a potential sponsor we see it as a win-win situation with the racers and the speedway," says Mike Miles, Bloomington Speedway's promoter. "With this new WalMart sponsorship, it has become win-win-win because I think that Bloomington Speedway fans and WalMart's customers will benefit a lot, too."

The sponsorship arrangement comes on the heels of a very successful race car display at Bloomington's WalMart, located at the 2nd Street overpass of SR 37, on Sunday afternoon. This is the third year Bloomington Speedway has begun their season by hosting race cars and drivers at WalMart.

Bloomington Speedway's Opening Night program features non-winged sprint cars and open wheel modifieds, in addition to the WalMart Tire & Lube Express Indiana Street Stocks. The pit gate opens at 4:30, and the grandstand general admission at 5:30 pm. Hot laps begin at 6:00, with racing at 7:45. General admission is just $10 for the opening night spectacular, with all fans ages 12 and under admitted FREE, when accompanied by an adult. Pit admission is $20.
