ALLSTAR: Lincoln All Star Partial Show

3 May 1998

Abbottstown, PA - It would've been a great show. A flawless night of All-Star sprint car racing was cut short at Lincoln Speedway Saturday night, when heavy rains hit the speedway as the cars were lining up for the feature just a few minutes after 9:00 p.m.

Qualifying for the 45 sprints on hand was stopped only by a Kenny Jacobs flip in time trials. Jacobs vaulted his sprinter into the fourth turn catch fence when his top wing snapped loose while entering turn three. It was the second consecutive green flag flip Jacobs has experienced at Lincoln this year.

All-Star points leader Jeff Shepard and Joey Saldana were slated for the front row, with Steve Siegel and Lincoln points leader Fred Rahmer on row two and Cris Eash and Lance Dewease on row three. The feature will be run when the All-Stars return to Lincoln on Saturday, August 29th.

All qualifying for the super sprints was completed in less than two hours, including time trials. Dewease set fast time at 13.477. Todd Shaffer, Tim Shaffer, Kevin Huntley and Kenny Jacobs won non-stop heat races. Dewease also won the Commercial Truck and Trailer Dash, setting a 4-lap track record (56.38 seconds), while Sean Michael set a new 12-lap record (2:52.12) in winning the B-Main.

Thundercar heats were claimed by Bobby Beard, Craig Wagaman and Steve Clabaugh. Bernie Beard won the consolation. The 15-lap thundercar feature will be made up this coming Saturday, May 9th.
