NASCAR-BGN: Fuller Named to Drive #89 Ford

20 May 1998

Brookfield, CT - Heritage Consumer Products, L.L.C., and Northstar Motorsports have named Jeff Fuller to drive the #89 Busch Grand National Ford Taurus for the remainder of the 1998 racing season, including the 10 races remaining in the sponsorship agreement with Heritage Consumer Products. Fuller, 41, has 80 Busch Grand National starts to his credit including a win in the Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway in 1996. Fuller will replace Stanton Barrett beginning this weekend in the Carquest Auto Parts 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Barrett drove the car on a limited basis for the beginning of the 1998 racing season.

Fuller, an Auburn, Massachusetts native, will bring a wealth of experience and talent to the Northstar Motorsports Team. In his 80 Busch Grand National starts, Fuller has 1 pole position, 3 top-five and 15 top-ten finishes, in addition to the Bristol victory. In addition, Fuller won the 1995 Busch Grand National Rookie of the Year award. Before moving to the Busch Series, Fuller put together an impressive NASCAR Modified career with 31 wins and 28 pole positions.

"I am extremely excited about the opportunity to represent Heritage Consumer Products in the Busch Grand National Series," Fuller said. "I believe I can use my experience to put the #89 Ford Taurus up front and hopefully win a race this season."

Without a ride for the beginning of 1998, Fuller has stayed active helping out other drivers and teams. Fuller has been very busy testing for other racing teams and serving as a tutor for J.D. Gibbs, son of Joe Gibbs, as he embarks on a Busch Grand National racing career.

"We believe Jeff is the perfect driver to take our team to the next level," Northstar Motorsports Team Owner Meredith Ruark said. "Jeff has a ton of experience that our team will rely on to move to the front of the Busch Series."

Heritage Consumer Products manufactures a variety of over-the-counter consumer products within the cold/allergy, topical, gastrointestinal and appetite suppressant markets. Throughout the racing season several product lines will be featured on the hood of the #89 Ford Taurus.
