BARBERDODGE: Donley, Snyder Head Provisonal Barber Dodge Grid

23 May 1998

LAKEVILLE, Conn. (May 22, from Rick Roso) - With 10 minutes remaining in first qualifying on a very crowded 1.54-mile track, Shane Donley of Las Vegas took the overnight pole for the Barber Dodge Pro Series race at Lime Rock Park, round two of the $1.1M championship. A full 30-car field (31, when Nilton Rossoni shows up Monday for the race) made finding a clear lap difficult, but getting a lucky draft from Rocky Moran, Jr., who ended up third-fastest, gave Donley the pole with a time of 54.345 seconds. Round one winner Todd Snyder of nearby Sheffield, Mass., ended up second-fastest, a tick behind at 54.403. The first 18 drivers are within one second of each other. Final qualifying is Saturday at 10:15 a.m. Eastern.
