INDYLIGHTS: Dorricott Racing Puts Problems Behind Them at Milwaukee

29 May 1998

Milwaukee, WI: Dorricott said, "We're hopefully past the psychological problems we faced after Nazareth when so many things didn't fall in our favor. The success we had at St. Louis and how well the team responded to the inevitable little problems and challenges a team faces during a race weekend will hopefully encourage a more positive outlook. If we can have a good showing at Milwaukee, it might confirm to ourselves and others that we're a bonafide contender in Indy Lights this year. We've tested well at Milwaukee and all three drivers were very fast. Actually, they were within two-tenths of a second of each other.

"Overall, I think we're doing well at this stage of the season. Philipp (Peter) being third in the championship is great, and Oriol (Servia) is 13th. For all intents and purposes, Oriol could easily be in the top-10 but for the rulings at Nazareth. Bud (Kaeding) moving up five positions in the race at St. Louis impressed me. It felt great to see him have some success out of the gate since we're trying to build exposure for Bud. His sprint car background is impressive so we hope he can translate it into this level of racing."

* "Bud" Kaeding is a third generation sprint car racer who has followed in the proud lineage of his father, Brent, and grandfather, Howard. Brent Kaeding is a 10-time Northern California Auto Racing Club (NARC) champion, and nine time Golden State champion. In amassing over 300 career victories, Brent, has also scored well in World of Outlaws competition including six victories to his credit. Howard Kaeding can also boast of over 300 career victories and has been the California State Champion of three different occasions.

* Philipp Peter's second place finish at St. Louis ended nearly a two year drought of Dorricott Racing visiting the Indy Lights podium. Dorricott's last top-three showing before St. Louis was at the inaugural Indy Lights super speedway event at Michigan International Raceway in 1996 where Jeff Ward finished third place.

* Trivia, coincidence, or a twist of fate? That's the unanswered question for Philipp Peter and Oriol Servia when they decided to purchase cellular telephones together. During the process, their cellular provider issued each driver their own, distinct cellular telephone numbers but with one noticeable eye catcher. The final two digits of each cellular address were numerically ordered 31 and 32 for Peter and Servia, respectively. It just so happened that Peter's Dorricott Racing Lola T97-20 was to be numbered 31 and while Servia would drive in the No. 32 car.
