LATE-MODEL: Berkey Not Suffering Sophmore Jinx

Wooster,OH---Dirt Late Model driver Dave Berkey and his Berkey Motorsports Team have not been suffering the dreaded sophmore jinx that has afflicted so many other racers. With 1998 being Berkeys second year in a full blown dirt Late Model he has already scored one feature win this season, on May 16 at Wayne County Speedway, but he is also a top five runner as well.

Berkey,driver of the beautiful red and white #40 GDI Race Cars with a McClelland Racing Engine under the hood of the #40, is also a member of the STARS Racing Series for the second year and is gearing up to tackle a couple MACS events as well. We hope to do more traveling and visit different tracks this year, commented Berkey. And thats what we intend to do. Im real pleased with the car this year and we seem to be having a pretty good season so far. And its out intention to keep it up!

Berkey has been getting quite a bit of media coverage of late,both in the racing press and mainstream press. He was recently featured in a major article/interview in the DAILY RECORD newspaper. Berkey has also been gaining more and more fans with his hard charging,yet smooth and fluid driving style and his charges to the front of the pack.

Berkey is sponsored by McClelland Racing Engines, R&B Transmission,GDI Race Cars,Chase to the Checkers and Dayton Enterprises. He recently published and distributed a team calendar promoting his sponsors and recently released a schedule poster with the seasn listings of the major sanctions and regional tracks. The fans loved them! And the sponsors were pleased with the extra effort to promote their services/products.

Berkey plans on attending the MACS Racing Series event at Raceway 7 on June 12 followed by a trip to Wayne County Speedway the following week. Berkey Motorsports will be releasing a more detailed schedule within the next two weeks.

Among other promotional plans currently being implemented, Berkey will be releasing a new newsletter next week which will be distributed to fans,media and sponsors at the various tracks. Berkeys newsletter was an extremely popular promotional; device used last season. The 29-year-old driver,fast becoming one of dirt Late Model racings more popular Central Ohio drivers, is gearing up for an intense summer of high calibar competition competing with the midwests best racers.
