16 June 1998

FOUNTAIN, Colo. - Radisson Hotels Worldwide President Brian Stage announced today at Pikes Peak International Raceway that the upscale hotel company has become the title-rights sponsor for the facilitys Aug. 14-16 Indy Racing League event.

The Radisson 200, which is the feature event of the Radisson 200 Weekend, will be on Sunday, Aug. 16, and will be televised live nationally by ABC.

Were gratified to be able to bring Radisson Hotels to the world of motorsports, said Brian Turner, project manager at PPIR. This marketing partnership keeps in line with our track record of bringing new types of businesses into motorsports in Colorado.

The Pikes Peak International Raceway is a first-class venue for our first-class hotels to be introduced to the popular, fast-paced worldwide sport of auto racing, Stage said. Motorsports has become one of the top spectator sports in the United States, as well as in many parts of the world.

The IRL championship race during the Radisson 200 Weekend will feature the same top drivers who competed in the Indy 500, said Stage, who attended the LYCOS.COM NASCAR Busch Grand National event today at PPIR.

This IRL championship event has proven to be one of the most popular on the annual motorsports calendar and is expecting a record audience due to the caliber of this impressive racing facility, the participants and the excellent destination.

The IRL event attracted a PPIR record crowd of 38,100 last year.

Radisson Hotels Worldwide has more than 360 hotels in 47 countries, including two locations in Colorado Springs.

Pikes Peak International Raceway, located about 15 minutes south of Colorado Springs on Interstate 25, opened last year and is considered one of the premier motorsports venues in the country.
