NASCAR Trucks: Lance Norick Ready to Challenge the "World's Fastest Half-Mile"

18 June 1998

BRISTOL, TN - On Saturday, June 20, 1998 Lance Norick and the NHL Dodge Team will be ready to challenge ^The World^s Fastest Half-Mile^ - Bristol Motor Speedway. The Loadhandler 200 at the famed concrete high-banked track is the ninth event on the 27-race 1999 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule.

"This is one of those tracks that you either love or hate," Norick explained. "It just so happens that I love it. It's a track that demands your attention at all times, things happen so fast there and if your not paying attention you can be in big trouble before you can blink."

In his 1996 rookie year, Norick had a strong run when he qualified 21st and finished a respectable 9th place. The 1997 outing at Bristol, however, was plagued with engine problems leaving the team to finish a disappointing 28th in the final order.

"We are hoping to at least repeat or better our run from 1996," commented Norick. "The team has prepared a great truck for me to drive and we are up for the challenge of this fast-paced event. Our team is on the verge of breaking through for our first win. Bristol would be a good place to get that first victory."

Bud Pole Award Qualifying for the Loadhandler 200 is Friday at 6 p.m. The race is set for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday and will be televised live by ESPN2. Radio coverage will be provided by NTN (NASCAR Truck Network) to over 400 affiliates nationwide.
