USRRC: Visteon Panoz Racing Team Road Atlanta Practice Notes

19 June 1998

VISTEON PANOZ RACING TEAM PRESS NOTES

PRACTICE SESSIONS

SPORTS CAR GRAND PRIX AT ROAD ATLANTA

Braselton, Georgia

The Visteon Panoz Racing Team ran very well in the morning practice sessions. The #4 Visteon Panoz set the fastest time in the GT1 class with a 1:16.553 lap at 120.38mph on the newly reconfigured 2.56 mile Road Atlanta track.

David Brabham, #4 Visteon Panoz GTR-1: "The Visteon Panoz has improved from yesterday's test sessions, and we've continued to make some other aerodynamic changes. It's getting better and better.

"Road Atlanta is a neat track. I especially like the fast corners and elevation changes -- I find flat tracks with tight corners somewhat boring. This track has character."

Andy Wallace, #4 Visteon Panoz GTR-1: "The Visteon Panoz Racing Team is quite happy with the car. We've got a good balance.

"Road Atlanta is a lovely track, very pretty, and nice to drive around. With the new configuration, there is a new overtaking possibility. This weekend there should be some exciting racing here because the GT1 cars are faster on the straights, and the WSC cars are faster in the corners. It'll be interesting."

The afternoon practice sessions were rained out.

The Visteon Panoz Racing Team is preparing for qualifying tomorrow, which starts at 12:30pm.
